Custom Gun Holsters for Glock
Glock Holsters: Navigating the Endless Options
Polymer-framed guns took over the world and nobody can stop them. Glock started this all and everybody welcomed a lighter frame that introduced more comfortable concealed carry and lighter pistols.
As a well-rounded gun owner and enthusiast, I've experience with various holsters for a Glock 19. As my experience grew, I've come to appreciate the craftsmanship that a quality holster for Glock can provide. I have discovered various things about what works best in different situations. Even discovered that a leather Glock holster can be a wonderful piece of shooting gear.
Today, I'd like to share some insights on selecting the perfect Glock holster. The focus would be on various gun holsters for Glock, but you can apply this to any discussion about polymer handguns too. Let's see why I trust Falco Holsters with my firearms.
Glock 19 Holster: Why Leather is My Go-To
The Glock 19 seen as a demigod among handguns is a preferred option to many concealed carriers, law enforcement & even the military to this day. The quality of Glock 19 has already been proven by decades of merciless usage. It's reliable & a bit bigger than modern polymer handguns, but still very relevant in the compact pistols category.
Once you pair it with the right holster for Glock 19, it is incredibly convenient to carry. After trying various Glock 19 holster materials, I settled on a leather Glock 19 holster. Let's see why.
Leather Glock 19 Holster
This striker-fired beast has been with us since 1988. It came into existence just one year before Falco Holsters. This makes him a classic or even a historical piece at this point.
I thought to myself, why not match it with a Glock 19 IWB holster? Leather offers unmatched comfort but also molds to the shape of the gun, providing a custom fit that improves with age. Leather Glock 19 holsters protect the finish of your G19 better than any other material and with the right care they can serve you well for decades. However, the con is you have to take care of it in the first place.
The leather holster A105 is a testament to the pros. Blending style with functionality in a way that synthetic materials simply can't match. Glock 19 holster leather provided the most comfortable experience of all the options which is why I settled with it.
Glock 19 Holster Kydex
Glock 19 holsters made of Kydex proved to be just a little bit less comfortable. However, this aspect does not create a whole concealed carry experience. Kydex is a wonderful material that provides lightness, sturdiness & unbeatably reliable retention for your Glock 19. The only other disadvantage would be that if you dont clean it at least from time to time the settled dirt might wear off the finish of your Glock.
I found a use for Kydex in the form of a belt holster Glock 19. When out at the shooting range, I love to hear its assuring reholstering click sound. Knowing my gear & pistol are safe when it rains is quite useful too. Kydex Glock 19 holster proved itself just like the Glock 19 itself.
Glock 19 Hybrid Holster
The Crossover of two materials should bring in double the advantages, but how does it perform in real life? I tried a hybrid Glock 19 holster A907 with an additional claw and I quickly slipped down the spiral. Yes, It is comfortable, and yes, it offers retention comparable to Kydex holsters.
The leather portion of a hybrid Glock 19 holster must be tense to provide enough retention. Just because of this, I didn't find it as comfortable as a leather holster. Otherwise, the compactness & positive features of this Glock concealed carry holster make it the winner of the overall concealed carry experience.
I can safely recommend it to anyone who practices deep concealment over anything else.

Holsters For Glock 17: Duty Pistol Needs Duty Holster
The handgun that I am enjoying the most at the range is my old trusty Glock 17. I prefer it simply because of the larger frame & barrel. Everybody, and me included, loves longer sight radius & more reliable groupings even on targets that are 25 meters away.
Glock 17 is a full-size pistol originally constructed to serve you well during duty. However, since its release, it proved itself as a great gun for sports competitions & hunts too.
Glock 17 Holster Leather
I tried the Glock 17 leather holster C141 which features LVL 3 retention. This leather Glock 17 holster features three levels of retention. First is the basic retention of the Leather holster. Second, steel reinforced thumb break & the last one is the MLC security lock.
This combination of security features was in complete harmony. Unsnapping of the thumb break was followed by a fluid motion of my thumb, push of the button on the lock, and my Glock 17 was finally released. The leather as a material was extremely comfortable even during rapid movements. This advantage of the leather Glock 17 holster is undeniable.
The Glock 17 is also classic and even older than the more compact Glock 19. Leather holster Glock 17 could be a nice match. Unfortunately, I couldn't overlook its law enforcement nature. My search continued.
Glock 17 Kydex Holster
Yes, the Glock Kydex holster was the first thing that came to my mind when looking for its holster. In the end, it was the best holster for Glock 17 for the purpose I was using it for. I got my hands on the Glock 17 drop leg holster E901 that rocks the open-top design. Retention of this Kydex holster is superb & thanks to the nylon strap it was easy to put on and off your body.
The Glock 17 Kydex holster provided faster draws & convenient carry method and I haven't used any other holster since then.

Glock Holsters Concealed: Common Advice
Glock offers over 50 pistols and giving recommendations to all of them in one article would be too comprehensive. Probably even overwhelming. Glocks share similar sizes across the portfolio only to few exceptions. That is why I can hand out common advice to all you concealed carriers and set you up for a successful concealed carry journey.
My Advice on Choosing the Glock 9mm Holster
From personal experience, here’s what should be considered when choosing a Glock pistol holster:
- Material: Glock leather holster, Kydex, or hybrid. There is no universally best material. Everything depends on your needs. However, except for Glock 43X and Glock 48, the Glocks are commonly wider pistols. To effectively conceal them I recommend opting for thinner & sturdy holster materials such as Kydex or Hybrids. It will help you to reduce the robustness and enhance the safety of the setup.
- Holster Fit: The Glock 26 holster does not fit the Glock 45 holster! Make sure to have a holster custom to your Glock.
- Carrying Style & Position: Depending on the purpose of carry, decide what position and carry style you need. A concealed carry holster Glock would be usually inside the waistband. Duty or open-carry Glock holsters would be OWB holsters. If the grip is printing
- Craftsmanship: In case you want the best Glock holster buy from reputable manufacturers. An example would be Falco known for its quality and exceptional customer service.
- Clothing: Thicker shirt materials, larger T-shirts, and patterns can do Glock concealed carry wonders. This does not mean you have to change your wardrobe style today. Just think about this when shopping for new clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions
To further help you with your questions I created a list of these frequently asked questions about Glock holsters.
Will a Glock 19 fit in a Glock 17 holster?
With the nylon & leather Glock 17 holsters, you should be able to use it also for a Glock 19. In some instances, Kydex & Hybrid holsters might work well too. However, you should pay attention to the Glocks generation as the newer ones are a little thicker.
This slight difference in Glock's size might make a holster too tight or loose. I recommend opting for a custom Glock 19 holster over using the one made for Glock 17.
Will a Glock 17 fit in a Glock 19 holster?
No, Glock 17 would not fit in any Glock 19 Holster. Unless it has open open-bottom design. In this case, however, you would have an exposed barrel which is considered unsafe. I recommend opting for a custom Glock 17 holster over using the one made for Glock 19.
Will a Glock 47 fit in a 17 holster?
The Glock 47 is wider by the 0,08 inch from the Glock 17. This slight difference will make your Kydex and Hybrid holster not compatible with each other. Leather & nylon holsters might fit, but the retention might be too tight. This is why I recommend using a custom holster made specifically for your Glock 47.
